Jim and Kristi’s Wedding
Jim and Kristi’s Wedding
.
Warmth welled and swelled in my chest,
holding back a smile was impossible.
I could have been recalling a memory,
sweet and dear, for sure my best.
They stood together, alone in the crowd.
He in black tux and she in dazzling white dress.
Their love filled the church to the steeple,
And flowed out the doors to the street.
That moment there was no war or pain,
No hate or struggle, no differences among people.
There was a perfect world of perfect love,
We caught a glimpse and they were the peep hole.
.
I’ve seen this world before this day,
When I felt this binding love on my soul.
There was a church full of joy
Where two people put their love on display.
I in black and my love in white,
She the potter and I the clay.
We existed in this perfect world,
Feeding our souls in a gluttonous feast
Of loved shared between husband and wife
Drunk with joy and full of promise untold.
The more we love and the less we hate
The further this perfect world before us is unfurled.
