Along with the thoughts and experiences transcribed in the post “Ah, Vacation…“, I also got a very good start on expressing some of the poetry I felt while shedding my worries in the ocean. I took some time today to rework the rough draft, insert some rhyme, and add a few stanzas. So the poem “Beach Vacation“, a play on the event and the leaving of my mind, has been posted to its page under the poetry tab. Enjoy and comment and share it with your friends and enemies.

I have been meaning to write up some stuff regarding our recent vacation to Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland, but alas the days are busy when vacation ends. Finally, I can sit and try and reflect upon the trip. Actually, I’m going to take my word for it and just plagiarize my little Moleskin notebook where some of my thoughts found expression while chilling right on the beach; there is still sand in the pages. I never started writing until I finished The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which I never read before, on or around the end of the third day. The following is from the notebook (Thanks, Lisa!).

I’m sure regular readers have noticed the absence of any new substance here at the Bye-Laws in recent weeks – or maybe not, since it isn’t all that unusual. This particular absence stemmed from two things: I was busier than a one-armed paper hanger with work and school and then I was decompressing from such busyness by taking a week to do much work around the house. It hardly seems like decompression to go from sitting at a desk (and in my car) for 10-15 hours a day to the back-breaking labor of removing landscaping, but it was surprisingly refreshing. Some pictures from the Ireland trip are up. There are about 55 pictures telling the story of the trip that took me about 7200 words to write. Of course, I could calculate that the other way and say that, putting the two mediums together, the whole trip is told in at least 62,200 words!
The pictures are on my other site here:

They are small thumbnails that expand to the full size picture when clicked upon. Please feel free to download these and do whatever you like with them; you won’t find any copyright stuff around here.

That isn’t the only good news – I’m finally starting to write down my vacation journal from our recent Ireland trip. I have journal entries that I wrote on the airplanes on the trip over and one long entry from the flight back, but everything in between went undocumented in the journal due to being very busy vacationing. So, I’ll start this by transcribing what I already have written down, then I’ll either insert my thoughts with a day-by-day account of the trip chronologically before the already transcribed thoughts on the return trip, or put it all in as it currently exists and fill the holes afterwards. Either way, I’ll denote clearly which is which.
